CASSP Volunteer Training Workshops

CASSP volunteer training workshops take two days. The first day is a free, online classroom meeting, that is open to the public with no prerequisites. The second day is scheduled for later, and consists of a field trip to archaeological sites. Field trips take place at various locations around the State. Each part of the workshop requires a separate registration. We have no scheduled workshop sessions or field trips at this time.

Our ability to provide these field trips is constrained by funding and the availability of public agencies to host CASSP workshops. Please contact us if you know of any potential workshop sponsors and locations. We thank all of the potential volunteers who attend the workshops. You demonstrate the widespread public interest in protecting our heritage.

CASSP online training session on November 14

A free CASSP online training will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Please use this form to register. Between November 9 to 13, we will email the meeting link and a PDF file containing all of the presentation slides. We do not share email addresses with any other organizations.

CASSP Heritage Hikes

CASSP Heritage Hikes are free, public hikes to visit examples of California heritage. Participants view cultural resources and learn why they are important and why they should be protected. We hope that people will be encouraged to visit other heritage sites and will support historic preservation.

The CASSP Heritage Hike at the Los Angeles Historic Plaza on October 11, 2026, is cancelled. Heavy rain is forecast for the day. Also, the associated SCA Southern Data Sharing Meeting at Cal State LA on October 10 is cancelled. We apologize for any inconveniences caused by this late change in plans. We will announce a new date as soon as it is confirmed.
